Diamond painting is a fun and creative hobby that has taken the craft world by storm. Similar to cross-stitch and paint-by-numbers, diamond painting is a great way to channel your creativity while also making a beautiful work of art that can be hung up on the wall. It’s also a very therapeutic activity that can be done by beginners and seasoned artists alike!
How to Get Started With Diamond Painting
If you’re new to the diamond painting world, it can be intimidating to choose a kit and get started. But with a few simple tips and tricks, you can quickly get comfortable with the basic techniques of this beautiful new painting hobby!
Before you begin, make sure to read the instructions carefully on your kit. This will help you avoid mistakes and ensure a successful project.
The most important step is to pick the right size of canvas for your project. We recommend that you start with a smaller kit and move up in sizes as you get more familiar with the process and your own artistic style.
You’ll want to pick a canvas that is big enough for you to comfortably work on, but small enough so that the diamonds are easy to place. This helps keep the diamonds from getting clumpy and messy. It’s also a good idea to choose a canvas with a square base, rather than round, which allows the diamonds to fit closer together on the canvas, which is better for preventing gaps in the diamond painting.
A good starting point is a 30x40cm canvas, but we’d also suggest looking at larger canvases. You’ll be surprised at how much more detail you can add to your painting when you go for a bigger canvas.
Choosing the Right Drill Shape
There are two different diamond shapes you’ll encounter in your diamond painting kits: round and square. While you’re likely to find that square drills are easier to use (they’re simpler to pickup) and they take up less space than round diamonds, it’s also possible that you’ll prefer the symmetrical look of round diamonds.
Whichever diamond shape you decide on, it’s a good idea to invest in a multi-placer tool so you can get more of your diamonds in one area at once. This tool will allow you to place more diamonds than would be possible using a pen, and it’ll also help you keep your diamonds straight as you go so they’ll line up.
The best multi-placers will have a wide head that will allow you to pick up more than one diamond at a time. This is especially helpful if you’re trying to paint large areas of a single color.
Aside from multi-placers, you can also find other tools that will be useful for your diamond painting project. These can include storage containers, light boards and magnifiers, as well as rollers to help you apply the diamonds more evenly. Having all these tools will help you get more done with your project and make it a lot more enjoyable! diamond painting
