YouTube views are a metric used to measure the popularity of videos on the video-sharing platform. A video’s view count can increase or decrease over time depending on factors such as the number of views a video receives, how many clicks the ads in a video receive, and the video’s length.

While it is possible to buy YouTube views, this method can be considered unethical and can cause a negative impact on a channel. If a video owner is found to be buying views, they may have their account suspended or banned. YouTube can also detect if a video exists solely to incentivize likes, comments, or views, and channels that do not comply with these rules might have their content removed from the site.

Do views count if I play my own video on YouTube? Yes, but only if the video is intentionally played and viewed by a person on one device. If a video is autoplayed or embedded on another website, it does not count as a view. Additionally, a view only counts when the video is watched for at least 30 seconds.

It is important to keep in mind that more is not always better. While more views are helpful in getting your videos noticed, you also want to focus on other key metrics such as subscribers, likes, and comments. Databox makes it easy to track and report on all of these metrics in a single dashboard. Check out our YouTube analytics guide for more information on how to get started. YouTube views
